Pledging and Rushing AXΣ

What Is Pledging?

Group 45_edited.png

During the pledge process, you will learn about the fraternity and its history, get to know the brotherhood, and your fellow pledges in your pledge class.

There is absolutely NO hazing whatsoever!

Our pledging process abides entirely in accordance to the national organization's regulations.

The Tau Chapter does not discriminate based on any criterion -- including but not limited to:  major, year, gender, race, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, or nation of origin. However, all pledges must have a willingness to learn, be collaborative with the current active Brotherhood, and enjoy science, specifically chemistry!

What Is The Process?

The Tau Chapter has rush week once each semester, usually during the second week of classes. Rush events are not binding and are intended for you to get a sense of what the fraternity is like. At the end of rush week, we hold Induction, when you officially become a pledge if you choose. For more information about the timeline, click the button below!

Why should I Pledge?

  1. Make lasting friendships and unforgettable memories with your pledge class and brothers

  2. While we all come from different backgrounds, we all share the common interest of chemistry and aren't afraid to nerd out over chemistry stuff with you!

  3. Gain a resource in brothers that can help you out with courses, research, and life after Cornell!

  4. With both professional and social aspects, we offer the best of both worlds

Who Is In Charge?

The pledge process includes short weekly meetings, at a time to be determined by the Vice Master Alchemist, the brother who is in charge of the pledge process. There are also two required events during the pledge process, to be held at a time convenient for the pledges.

In addition to these pledge requirements, pledges are encouraged to attend our many optional events, including Professional and Service activities.

The pledge process ends with an initiation ceremony, where, if you are seen fit, you will become a brother.
